TREE:
| The frame of your saddle - Choice of swell, horn,
cantle & bars.

| Rawhide Trees:
| Lathed of wood and tightly wrapped with
rawhide for reinforcement.

| Tough Kote:
| Lathed of wood and sealed with a stiff
rubber coating for reinforcement.

| Fiberglass Covered:
| Lathed of wood and reinforced with
fiberglass matting & reinforced.
|
|
| Plastic Tree:
| Injected, molded form.
|

All of the above trees come with a five
(5) year warranty from the saddle tree maker.

| GULLET
WIDTH:
| Where the bottom of swell attaches to
the bars..it will determine the width and flare of the bars that
lay against your horses back. Many horses backs are similar
but not exact. Also you must keep in mind that the horse is
ever changing with the seasons and conditioning.

| GULLET
HEIGHT:
| Normal is 7"........Recommended
8" (Gullet height & width are virtually impossible to
measure accurately after the saddle is built)

| TREE SEAT
LENGTH:
| Measurement from the back of the swell
to the top point of cantle.
|
| FINISHED
SEAT LENGTH:
| Measurement from the back of swell to
cushioning on padded seats.
|
| SKIRTS:
| Covers the bottom of tree, helps to
disperse weight & maintain positioning of the saddle.
|
| MOTHER
HUBBARD SKIRTS:
| The back housing is actually part of the
skirts - sewn around the outside perimeter and forming a pocket
for the tree bars to slide into -- only slot rigging is
available with this style.

| BACK
HOUSING:
| Is a separate part that covers the bars
and rear dee rigging.
|
| SEWN DOWN
BACK HOUSING:
| Similar to regular back housing except
it is sewn down to the skirts - only slot rigging is available
with this style.
|
| REAR
RIGGING:
| Slot:
| A 2" slot punched into the skirt thru both
layers of leather (can be reinforced with rawhide in center) for
rear billets to hang from.
|
| Dee:
| Attached directly to the tree and hand sewn to
skirts - recommended for roping and working saddles.
|
| FRONT
RIGGING:
| Traditional Dee:
| Is attached directly to the tree and hand sewn to
the skirts..there are four standard positions: Full, 7/8, 3/4, and
Center Fire.
|
| Flat Plate Rigging:
| Similar to the traditional dee rigging with the same
positions available. Flat plates are dee rigging dropped
down lower on a yoke to alleviate bulk under the riders
legs. Secured to the front of the tree and center or rear of
the tree.
|
| In-Skirt 3-Way Front
Rigging:
| A double c-plate that is incorporated into the
skirt, laying flat against the horses' side and eliminating bulk
under the riders legs. Full, 7/8 and 3/4 rigging positions
are all available with this double c-plate making it more versatile
to different conformations.

| C-Plate Rigging:
| Is also an in-skirt rigging that only allows for one
rigging position which is generally 7/8.
|
| BACK
BINDING:
| Refers to the style at the top of the
cantle. It can be covered in Bleached Rawhide (white), Flint
Rawhide (a transparent brown shade), or Leather.
|
| Cheyenne Roll:
| Is attached to the top of the cantle at a right
angle allowing for another hand hold area or purely cosmetic...can
be rope roll silver laced. Cheyenne roll is the most common
style of cantle binding.
|
| 1/2" Binding:
| Stands straight up as a continuation of the seat and
cantle back extending the height of your cantle 1/2" -
1" (can be rope roll silver laced).
|
| RAWHIDE:
| Untanned leather that is hard to the
touch (almost like hard plastic feels)..comes bleached white or
flint...cannot be tooled.
|
| SKIRTING
LEATHER:
| Vegetable tanned cowhide (what your
saddle is made of)...can be tooled, oiled, or dyed.
|
| LATIGO:
| Alum tanned cowhide that is burgundy in
color. Common uses are tie straps, saddle strings, lacing
and horn wraps. This tannage promotes strength, flexibility,
and resistance to elements.
|
| SILVER
LACING:
| 1/4" Stainless steel lace for
decorative purposes - will not rust, flake, or stain.
|
| MONTANA
CONCHO:
| Silver plated concho that retain their
shine & luster without polishing.
